Interview with Edgar "ET" Torronteras
Interview by Stefanie Reiß | Pix by Martin Schenk and Vincent Saccomani

Do you remember what happened in the end of the 90's concerning FMX? Mad Mike Jones and a crazy young kid from Spain made the fans going wild and crazy by doing Superman Seatgrabs in shows all over the world. A lot of experts said, this young kid from Spain is the european Travis Pastrana. Now, almost 10 years later we talked with that guy. The most of you certainly know him – Edgar Torronteras. We have never interviewed ET here on FORTY8 and we thought after his great comeback it is time for an startalk with him.

First of all, tell the guys out there some basics about you - where do you come from, how old are you and what is your mission in FMX?
I am 29 years, coming from Barcelona/Spain and my mission is Speed & Style!

Almost every rider has a cool story how he started with MX. Do you also have one? How and when did you start riding MX bikes and what affected you to do FMX? I am one of the first European or Global Freestyle Motocross riders and I have invented a lot of tricks in the past years.

When I look back to the end of the 90’s you rode pretty good Supercross and especially in FMX you were one of the big names. But then it was getting quiet around you – what happened and what did you do the last years? The past years were really hard for me. I was injured very often and that threw me back. Now I am back with a lot of motivation, style and Backflip Combos.

Now you are back and you lock stronger than ever on your bike. You are also doing Backflips in different variations. Do you feel confident doing Flips now? Yes, I like the upside down tricks, but I am almost on my limit. I am trying to risk not too much, because I don’t want to get injured again.

Training is one of the most important bases of FMX. Do you have your own FMX compound and how do you train your tricks? I have a big training compound with some ramps, a foam pit and a big landing at my house called Banana Camp.

Spain has some really good and talented riders like you, Dany Torres and Jose Miralles. Do you know the guys well and are you training with them? Yes, of course. They are great riders with good bike skills. I would ride with those guys if they want.

You have an own FMX Team – right? Tell us something about the Team and the riders? The most of the team members are young and talented guys which join my place. I try to teach them with my experience to get better in FMX. More information about the team on our blog: http://bananafaceteam.wordpress.com/

Dou you have a website? WWW.EDGARTORRONTERAS.NET

What are your plans for the upcoming season and the future? I am planning to create a school for FMX and other Extremesports.

What are you doing in your free time except FMX? And are you still deep into music and DJ? Yes, I am still doing music, but I am deep into wakeboarding these days.
